The short version
CartFunnel collects anonymous cart and checkout behavior on your storefront — never anything that identifies a specific shopper. No names, no emails, no addresses, no payment details. Nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
What we collect
Through Shopify's Web Pixels sandbox, installed on the storefronts of merchants who use CartFunnel, we collect:
- Product page views, add-to-cart, and remove-from-cart events
- Checkout step progress (started, contact info, shipping, payment, completed)
- An anonymous, Shopify-generated browser identifier (used only to avoid double-counting the same visitor — never linked to a real identity)
- Device type (mobile / tablet / desktop), inferred from the browser's user agent
- Referring domain and UTM campaign parameters, when present in the URL
- Cart line items (product and variant, quantity, price) — used only in aggregate, to surface product-level and bundling insights
How merchant account data is used
When a store owner installs CartFunnel, Shopify shares basic account information (shop domain, the installing user's name and email) needed to operate the app — for example, to send the weekly summary email. This is store-owner account data, not shopper data, and is used only to run the app for that merchant.
How the data is used
Collected events are aggregated into dashboards and a weekly email summary shown only to the merchant who owns the store. We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose beyond powering that merchant's own analytics.
Data retention and deletion
While a store has CartFunnel installed, event data is retained to power the dashboard's historical views. If a merchant uninstalls the app:
- The tracking pixel and ingest credentials are disabled immediately
- All stored analytics data — raw events, aggregated rollups, and product caches — is permanently deleted within 48 hours, in line with Shopify's standard app data lifecycle
Your rights
Because CartFunnel never stores shopper-identifying data, there is no personal data tied to an individual shopper to access, export, or delete on request — our systems respond to Shopify's mandatory customer data-request and redaction webhooks confirming exactly that. Store owners can request deletion of their account-level data at any time by uninstalling the app or by contacting support@cart-funnel.com.
Third parties
We use the following service providers to operate the app, each bound by their own privacy and security obligations:
- Shopify — hosting the app within the Shopify platform and the Web Pixels sandbox that collects events
- Resend — delivering the weekly summary email to the merchant
